Access to Information is a fundamental part of democracy and a critical right for citizens to participate in public life. In recent years, a number of Arab countries passed access to information laws including Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia. To what extent are these laws being implemented? and do they really empower citizens to request access to information? This session will present the results of a new study by Transparency International on ATI in the region and create a space to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with these laws.
